Debate over graduation requirements

Within the past week, Representative Brian Calley has introduced House Bill 4534 calling for the repeal of the state graduation requirements. Under his proposed bill, schools could go back to the former, more flexible high school graduation requirements.

  1. I'm encouraged that we can work with Brian as he seems to have a level-headed approach to educational matters. We knew that cramming the same curriculum down everyone's throats imperils vital programs like tech ed and could raise drop-out rates, and he is responding to that. Without seeing the bill's particulars I would say it's a nice beginning to the conversation on returning to common sense.
