Amen, sister! The "tunnel vision" comment is what struck me - jobs, tax incentives, and the like are things that, while important, are secondary to living human beings. Investments in children will pay off in the future and there have to be areas in the billions of dollars of government spending that can be trimmed or reallocated in ways that keep programs for humans alive.
